While adding extra oil to your skin might seem counterintuitive, mixing natural oils into your foundation can keep your skin looking flawless—and feeling hydrated—all day long.

Before applying your foundation, mix a drop of your preferred natural oil into your foundation either on the back of your hand or in a makeup palette. Depending on your desired look or skin type, different oils may better suit your purpose.

Here are a few of our tried-and-true favorites:

  1. Argan Oil

With its ultra-hydrating properties, adding argan oil to your foundation is a surefire way to give dry, dull skin a healthy-looking glow. Using this trick will also help your foundation to seamlessly glide onto the skin, cutting down on blending time.

  1. Seaberry Oil

Also known as seabuckthorn oil, seaberry oil contains powerful antioxidants and omegas 3, 6, 7, and 9. This helps to protect the skin from free radicals, helping to keep your skin looking youthful.

  1. Grapeseed Oil

This non-comedogenic oil is a holy grail product for women with acne-prone or oily skin. It helps to tighten pores, treat acne, and reduce scarring—all while moisturizing the skin. Talk about a multitasker!

  1. Rosehip Oil

Packed with essential fatty acids, vitamin E, vitamin C, and B-carotene, rosehip oil helps to lighten scars and slow the aging process. This makes it perfect for more weathered skin, or for anyone looking to stop wrinkles in their tracks.
