Liza Fromer, a widely respected broadcast journalist, speaks on nighttime snacking, eating eel, salty versus sweet, and takeout menus.

Occupation: Broadcaster/host for The Morning Show on Global

What’s your secret food vice? I stopped eating meat six years ago but I occasionally slip for Beretta Farms salami. (My daughter loves it, so it’s in the house).

What is your number one comfort food? Pizza

What is your biggest food challenge? Nighttime snacking: I love a salty snack while watching TV after the kids go to bed.

What keeps you eating a balanced diet? Vanity

What are your food dislikes? I don’t like super sweet foods. I’m not a big dessert girl.

What foods have you completely omitted from your diet? Beef and chicken

What must you always have in your fridge? Greek yogurt, vanilla almond milk for coffee, and a bag of baby carrots to help curb the aforementioned late night snacking.

What are some of your go-to meals? I’m not much of a cook. I have a healthy (non fried) eggplant parmigiana as well as baked salmon with a maple glaze, served with rice and broccoli.

What is the strangest food you’ve tried? Eel

What’s your favourite dish or food to eat in the summer? A huge Greek salad is fine with me.

What is your favourite meal to make for guests in your home? I will make tacos (soft and hard shell).

What is your favourite ingredient to cook with? A take out menu works for me.

What projects have you been busy with over the last year? We made a lot of changes at The Morning Show, so this past year has been a time of reinvention.

What’s next for you? I will continue to grow with the show—and learn to cook a few more meals.
