Root extracts from Corydalis yanhusuo (YHS), a flowering herbal plant, have been used for centuries as a pain treatment. A new study conducted at the University of California has found that YHS actually does treat various forms of pain. Most notably, it can alleviate chronic neuropathic pain, which common medicines cannot.
Researchers also found that YHS did not lose potency with continuous use, nor did it lead to tolerance. While it is not as potent as common pain medications, YHS is suggested to be an adjunct medicine for alternative pain treatment for those with low to moderate chronic pain.
