DRAMATIC RED

This look is very Bauhaus – bold, abstract and dramatic all in one (with a rocking outfit to match). The model’s sleek look is a brilliant feminine contrast to the lines of the fabric.

GET THE LOOK
To create this look, start by choosing a solid colour for the shadow. If you don’t like red, opt for any primary or secondary colour.
Let your eyes be the primary focus of your face. Add a dramatic liner while keeping the rest of your face neutral.
When you choose to play up the eyes, tone down the lips to balance out the look. A soft gloss or nude lipstick suited for your skin tone is ideal.

IS THIS TREND A LITTLE TOO BOLD
FOR YOUR PERSONAL STYLE?

Use a feature colour as a liner to jazz up an everyday subtle look. Dip a small angle brush in some water or use a hydrating mist and mix it in your shadow to intensify the colour.
Apply liner all the way across the top and/or bottom, depending on your preference. The most important part is that you are comfortable and confident, making it your own style–your own way.

NATURAL GLAM

The natural look is an ongoing trend that most of us can all relate to and love. The key to pulling off neutral makeup is to highlight your skin. Whether you prefer a sheer tinted moisturizer or a full-coverage foundation, you need to create the perfect surface. It’s makeup, without looking made up.

It simply takes a bit of mascara, gloss and – one of my absolute favourite things – blush! Using a soft pink or peach blush, apply it to the apples of your cheeks.
Consider trying a mineralized blush to add a touch of glow for the holidays.
A touch of lip gloss will finish off the look. Opt for brands that are 100 per cent petroleum free and made of organic vegetable oil.

ZESTY YELLOW

The fall 2013 makeup palette features a blitz of autumn hues ranging from beiges and oranges to never-ending shades of yellow. Zesty yet buttery colours will make you feel like the sixties are coming back.

To reinvent the era with a modern twist, combine bright colours with an au naturel base, perfectly pink blushed cheeks, and your favourite gloss. Be playful and have fun. Own it in your own way.
Try a cream shadow for a different texture and application. Use your fingers and have fun. It’s not always about perfection.
For the perfect finishing touch, use a bold black liner and apply a thick line across your eyelid with a bit of a wing on the edge. To up the glam a little (like in this look here) line the bottom as well.

THE BOLD LIP

This trend has consistently been very popular. Its modern origins can be traced back to the forties and fifties. The bold lip is a timeless, classic look that takes next to nothing in terms of time and technique. All it takes is a little courage!
Pulling off a bold lip can seem daunting to many. I always hear: “I can’t pull that off!” Well, guess what? Yes, you can!

GET THE LOOK
The secret is taking the time to pick out the perfect product. This means trying on different shades and textures – understanding what you like about one and hate about the other.
Consider trying a gloss that can look a lot more playful and casual. A matte lipstick won’t seem quite so bold if a strong lip is new to you.
Keep the rest of your face neutral and polished. Try thin black liner across the top lid and some mascara with a touch of blush to finish it off. Less is more; all the focus should go to the lip.
