The Autumn/Winter 2023 collection includes first-time returning brands as well as established names. Among the new brands was PCES, which presented a refined and function-oriented collection in Li Peng Enterprise fabrics made from recycled and recycled garment waste. Another new name, SYZYGY, in cooperation with New Wide Enterprise and Yixin Textile Industry, transforms eco-friendly and recycled yarns into fashion collections based on clothing concepts with multiple possibilities.
Among the returning well-known brands, DYCTEAM creates functional, simple and elegant style with Formosa Taffeta’s new bio-based and recycled fabric towels made with unique carbon capture and bio-fermentation technology. oqLiq has partnered with Shin Kong Textile and Zig Sheng Industrial to turn recycled fishing net yarn into streetwear and functional outdoor apparel, among other eco-friendly fabrics. UUIN has partnered with Far Eastern New Century to transform low-emission dyed fabrics and fibers from recycled land and marine waste into unique pieces inspired by life as art. WEAVISM and Everest Textile have teamed up to create gaming-inspired streetwear using eco-innovative fabrics made from recycled PET bottles and factory waste.
Taipei Sustainable Collections aims to highlight the diversity and creative possibilities of sustainable fashion. Designers can continue to create with unique perspectives and inspirations – from nostalgic history, art and heritage to contemporary living and care for local communities – while still producing with minimal impact on the planet.
Sustainability is one of the five core concepts of Taipei Fashion Week proposed by the Ministry of Culture, along with functionality, diversity, multidisciplinarity and humanity. Taipei Fashion Week aims to become an important platform for establishing a mature industrial environment and gathering fashion energy. Ultimately, Taipei Fashion Week hopes to be associated with fashionable clothing that people will be proud of in the future.
