Age: 64
Occupation: Retired real estate agent and homemaker
Health issue: arthritis
Symptoms: Over the years I have sustained several injuries to my knees. When I was younger, the injuries did not affect me, but with time they started to bother me. I finally came to the point where I could no longer walk uphill, and was having difficulty walking on flat surfaces. I went to a medical specialist who ordered X-rays, which showed that I have severe arthritis in both knees. Knee replacement surgery seemed to be my only option.
Health recommendations: I am not a fan of surgery, so I went to see a naturopathic doctor to get some advice. She recommended some diet modifications and cleansing to reduce inflammation. She also suggested we try a course of injection treatments called Prolotherapy.
The results: I was amazed. After just one treatment I was able to walk with considerably less pain. We have done three treatments on my knees, and I am again able to enjoy my surroundings. My ND has explained that due to my level of deterioration, I may still require the surgery. However, as long as the Prolotherapy injections are helping, I am willing to keep them up.
