American College of Lifestyle Medicine,  the adoption of plant-based and plant-predominant diets rich in vegetables, legumes, and nuts constitutes a simple and achievable lifestyle intervention for ambulatory patients that confers protection against moderate-to-severe COVID-19.

The severity of COVID-19 was classified as moderate to severe and very mild to mild using the following definitions: • Very mild (asymptomatic or almost asymptomatic) to mild (symptomatic [fever <38°C (not treatment), with or without cough, no dyspnea, no wheeze, no abnormal imaging findings];

• Moderate (fever, respiratory symptoms, and/or imaging findings of pneumonia) to severe [(a) shortness of breath, respiratory rate ≥ 30 breaths/min; (b) low oxygen saturation < 93% at rest; (c) Partial pressure of oxygen (PaO2)/partial pressure of inspired oxygen (FiO2) ≤ 300 mm Hg] or critical (respiratory failure requiring mechanical support, ICU admission, shock, or failure of extrapulmonary organs)

• The duration of COVID-19 is divided into >14 days and ≤14 days. Summary of Findings: • More than 70% of healthcare participants were men, and almost 95% were physicians
• Healthcare workers who reported adhering to a plant-based or vegetarian diet (including more vegetables, legumes and nuts) were 73% less likely to be infected with moderate to severe COVID-19 (OR 0.27, 95% CI 0.10 to 0.81) .
