Health Canada has issued a recall for children’s and adult gummy vitamin products from Church & Dwight Canada Corp. The affected supplements include L’il Critters Vitamin D3 and Vitafusion Calcium Adult Gummy Vitamins.
This recall comes after testing run by the company identified extremely high vitamin D levels—almost four times higher than those advertised on the labels—in these products. Health Canada’s concerns lie in the fact that this amount of vitamin D is over the tolerable limit for children eight and under.
If consumed, kids may experience what is known as vitamin D “intoxication,” which can cause headaches, nausea, vomiting, constipation, lack of appetite, irritability, dehydration, fatigue and weight loss.
If you or one of your loved ones has consumed these goods and experienced any of the aforementioned side effects, please report the reactions on Health Canada’s website or call toll-free at 1-800-267-9675.
