Hey, Parents! Got a Minute? Let’s Talk About PRIME, the Energy Drink Your Kids Might Be Sipping!”

We’ve got some buzzworthy news to share, and it’s all about PRIME, the energy drink that’s got everyone talking. You know, the one founded by YouTube celebs Logan Paul and KSI? Yep, that’s the one!

Our friend, Sen. Charles Schumer, has been making some noise about it. He’s asked the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to take a closer look at PRIME. Why, you ask? Well, it’s got a caffeine kick that could rival a herd of hyperactive kangaroos!

Despite the label warning that it’s “not for kiddos under 18,” PRIME has become the new cool kid on the block among teenagers and even pre-teens. A single 12-oz. can packs a whopping 200 milligrams of caffeine. That’s like chugging down six cans of Coke or nearly two Red Bulls in one go. Yikes!

Schumer pointed out, “Who’s PRIME really trying to impress? It’s the under 18s.”

PRIME also offers a caffeine-free version called PRIME Hydration, but the main concern here is the high-caffeine version that’s being marketed to children via social media.

Schumer added, “Kids see it on their phones, they scroll, they want, they get. But the problem is, this drink’s got so much caffeine, it makes Red Bull look like a sleepy sloth.”

Too much caffeine can lead to a whole host of not-so-fun effects like insomnia, jitters, anxiety, a racing heart, upset tummy, nausea, headaches, and general unhappiness, according to the FDA. While adults can handle around 400 milligrams of caffeine a day, there’s no set safe limit for children.

The American Academy of Pediatrics advises that there’s “no proven safe dose of caffeine for children,” and kids under 12 should avoid caffeine altogether. They also recommend that teens between 12-18 should not have more than 100 mg of caffeine a day.

Some schools in the U.S. have already given PRIME the boot. KSI responded to one ban last year on Twitter, promising to send a truckload of PRIME to the school and others. Talk about stirring the pot!
