JANE LI
AGE: 37
OCCUPATION: Chef
HEALTH ISSUE: Lupus
SYMPTOMS: In my early twenties, I started to develop achy, swollen joints, serious fatigue, and a butterfly-shaped rash across my face. My doctor diagnosed me with lupus, which is classified as an autoimmune disease.
HEALTH RECOMMENDATIONS: Along with my prescription medications, I was advised to make a variety of lifestyle changes to help quell my symptoms. Now, I make sure that I am getting enough sleep and do a variety of low-impact exercises, including walking and swimming. I also eat an anti-inflammatory diet and supplement with omega-3 fish oils to help reduce inflammation.
THE RESULTS: Living with lupus is still a struggle, but I have found that maintaining a healthy, balanced lifestyle and proper diet have helped keep me in peak condition.
