Health issue: Eczema

Symptoms: I had skin irritation, such as itchiness, redness and scaly skin (which was not only uncomfortable, but also embarrassing).

Health recommendations: To combat my eczema, I changed my daily routine by using gloves when washing dishes, using natural soap, and moisturizing once or twice daily with lotion that is made primarily of essential oils like calendula, lavender or coconut oil. I found using aloe or witch hazel helped to ease itchiness, as well as lemon juice, which helps cool the skin during flare ups. I also changed my eating habits by drinking a daily tonic of apple cider vinegar and water, drinking lots of water, taking a multi-vitamin made from whole food sources and Vitamin B complex, and opting for a more clean-eating approach and avoiding or limiting any processed foods.

The results: In the past, my doctor would prescribe corticosteroids and after using several, I opted for a more natural approach. The corticosteroids were a band-aid solution and I wanted a long-term solution. I’m happy to report that with some lifestyle changes, including the health recommendations above, my skin is clear and symptom free. VM
