On Viva’s “Green Living” 2010 cover, Melissa Etheridge talked about how life changes after beating cancer, how she embraces life and has become comfortable in her own skin. The Academy Award and two-time Grammy winner is now releasing her 13th studio album titled This is M.E. on her new,
Independent label ME Records. Rolling Stone magazine had this to say about he album: “This Is M.E. is all lust and no fuss.”
Viva thought it was time to catch up with the songstress and see what has been happening in her life over the last four years.
“Life is always my inspiration,” reveals Etheridge on what inspired her new CD. “My life is filled with love and passion, fun and hope. My music is my expression of that. This is my first independent record release, so the making was completely different. I collaborated with some very different producers on this. Each one brought something out of me musically, that makes this album so powerful.” One of her collaborations was with The Lumineers’ cellist Neyla Pekarek on the song “A Little Hard Hearted”.
Etheridge kicked off the album release with a live performance of her
new single: “A Little Bit Of Me” on Live! With Kelly & Michael. Now touring for her new CD, Etheridge is enjoying the return to a hectic pace, but still savours balanced living. “I look for balance in every aspect of my life,” says Etheridge. “Balanced diet, balanced work. Balanced fun and family. I believe balance is the key to a happy life.”
