Health issue: seasonal allergies and liver toxicity
Age: 38
Location: Shawnigan Lake, BC
Occupation: Customer Service
Symptoms: My allergies caused asthma and bronchitis, and almost always progressed to pneumonia at least once a year. I was on a lot of steroid inhalers, and often
on antibiotics. Liver toxicity manifested as pain in my liver, excruciating diarrhea
and nausea.
Health Recommendations: On the advice of a naturopathic doctor, I began taking high doses of citrus-free Ester-C with bioflavinoids. I also changed my diet and cut out dairy and meat. For my liver, I started taking a mushroom complex and began a series of acupuncture treatments. I also felt it was important to not “own” my ailments.
I practiced saying, “I am experiencing these symptoms,” instead of saying, “I have
this disease.”
Results: I noticed a gradual decline in the severity of symptoms. The first year I got Bronchitis, but no pneumonia. Three years later I was off all my inhalers. I have learned that six sessions of acupuncture along with my supplements is a successful regime for my liver. Life has improved greatly — so much so that I felt great during my pregnancy — no nausea — and by the time you read this, my second child will have been born!
