In compliance with its new environmentally conscious branding campaign, the Scottish government has announced it will formally ban growing genetically modified organisms (GMO’s).
Over 60 countries have banned GMO crops, so why are North American’s still getting genetically modified food on our dinner plates?
GMO’s have been found in mother’s breast milk and are penetrating our DNA and harming our gut and autoimmune systems. The American Academy of Environmental Medicine (AAEM) reported that: “Several animal studies indicated the serious health risks associated with GMO food.” These include infertility, immune problems, accelerated aging, faulty insulin regulation, and changes in major organs and the gastrointestinal system. The AAEM has asked physicians to advise patients to avoid GMO foods. The problem is that it’s often difficult to know which fruits and vegetables are GMO-free. It’s time for our government to step up and ban GMO crops.
