From September 19 to 27th, Canadians all over the country will celebrate organic week. The goal is to encourage Canadians to think before they eat, and really look at the foods we are putting into our bodies.
Not only are organic foods better for our bodies and the environment by reducing exposure to pesticides and GMOs, but they are great tasting and nutritious.
To kick off the week, CLIF bar hosted an organic dinner at Toronto’s Ruby Watch Co. The Riverside-based restaurant is known for serving a rotating prix-fixe menu based on local, organic ingredients that are available at the time.
The organic movement is gaining so much momentum, with nearly 5,000 certified organic farms, processors and handlers nationwide. More than 20 million Canadians buy organic products weekly and organic farms have grown by 66.5 per cent since 2001. Haven’t joined the movement? Now’s the time to start.
