Having your own store or vitamins and supplements is an investment (financially and into your health!) hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of vitamins are lost every year due to improper storage or expiration. Not only do supplements need to be stored in a cool and dry place, as well as a secure location. At the end of the day, few people can keep up with actually sticking to their supplement routine due to poor storage and organization.

One way to take charge of your supply is to get things organized properly so that you can actually take advantage of the vitamins and supplements in your cabinets. Not the mention, your body will reap the benefits. Here are a few tips and tricks to get you moving in the right direction.

1-Keeping track

Most people forget how many vitamins they need to take from each container and at what times of the day. It can get frustrating and daunting to read the labels over and over again. One simple hack is to mark the top of your vitamin containers, indicating if you need to take one, two or three. You can use sticker dots to get yourself started and you can vary the colours. The amount of dots indicate how many to take and you can place them in rows to indicate how many in the morning and how many to take in the evening.

2-Use a Pillbox

Using a pillbox can quickly take the guesswork out of your supplement routine. Once your vitamins are organized according to their proper amount and time of day, you can easily fill up your pillbox for the week. Having a pillbox on your counter or in your purse saves time, mental energy and ensures that you actually take your vitamins while reaping the benefit of being consistent and consistency is key when it comes to supplements.

3-Bins & Containers

Transparent bins provide an added level of organization, allowing you to pull out a container quickly and easily. Furthermore, you can label your containers, organizing your stash based on groupings and categories.

For instance, you can have one container labelled Immunity, another Sinuses or Muscles or Sleep or Joints. This minimizes your time sorting and shuffling through endless pills and bottles looking for the right supplement.

Other tips:

  • Keep out of direct sunlight
  • Don’t store in the refrigerator, unless instructed
  • Consider storing in air tight container (to keep moisture out).
  • Keep away from the stove and other sources of heat and keep away from the kitchen sink.
  • Store away from food, to avoid moisture.

Getting onto your vitamin game doesn’t have to be expensive or boring and can save you in the long run. All you need to get started is some containers, labels, sticker dots and a pillbox!
