What is your number one comfort food? Chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate! If I could add chocolate to salads I would!

What are the top three things you do to keep a balanced lifestyle? Exercise every day. Walk my two German Shepherds. Eat well.

What keeps you eating a balanced diet? I feel great, and keep my immune system at its peak. It keeps my weight in line and works to prevent many chronic diseases such as obesity, diabetes type 2, heart and stroke disease and certain cancers.

Any allergies or dislikes? Virtually nothing.

What must you always have in your fridge? Plain Greek yogurt and loads of fruits and vegetables.

Strangest food(s) you’ve tried? Chocolate-covered bugs! I had a television show years ago on the Food Network and had to try. Not my favourite.

What is your favourite dish or food to eat in the summer? In the winter? In the summer I love grilled whole fish on the barbeque. In the winter I love my homemade chili with all the condiments: light sour cream, grated old cheddar cheese, cilantro and avocado.

What is your favourite meal to make for guests in your home? My children loved Hoisin braised short ribs and pulled pork.

What is your most used/favourite ingredient to cook with? I’m addicted to cilantro. If I could add it to desserts, I would. Also, quinoa is at the top of the list.

What is your favourite city to eat out in? Why? New York City. Everything is better there, even the eggs!

What have you been busy with over the last year? My latest book, Choose It and Lose it. It’s a roadmap to healthier eating at your favourite Canadian restaurants, and just hit the stores.
