Welp, ‘The Bachelor’ Finally Found a Beauty Queen Who Was Too Beauty Queen-y for the Show

If you did some pre-season snooping and looked through all the ladies who would be vying for pilot Peter Weber’s heart, you may recall that Bachelor producers outdid themselves and recruited FOUR former beauty queens. And honestly, The Bachelor has a history of recruiting pageant contestants for the show (see: Hannah Brown, aka former Miss Alabama, and Caelynn Miller-Keyes, aka former Miss North Carolina, from Colton Underwood’s season), so no one should be that surprised!

This season we had Maurissa, who got eliminated on night one and competed in the Teen USA program. We also have Victoria P, who was Miss Louisiana 2019, Kelsey W., who was Miss Iowa in 2017, and Alayah who was Miss Texas in 2019. And while normally the Bach and pageant queens go together like Oreos and peanut butter (don’t @ me), it seems like Alayah might have finally broken the system!

Tonight the drama was all about Alayah being fake, partially due to—wait for it—all her pageant training. After fellow contestant Sydney mentioned to Peter that she thought Alayah was less than genuine, Peter decided to take aside basically every single other girl at the Bachelor mansion and ask them if they thought Alayah was there for the right reasons. And, guess what—they don’t, and many accuse her of turning it on for the camera, not being real with him, and being “fabricated,” with some calling out her pageant persona.

But let’s be real—this is the second time in three episodes that a beauty queen’s drama has taken up the episode (see: #champagnegate), so it doesn’t look like we’ll be seeing any fewer pageant alums next season!
